About the Teachers

As part of the holiday, we will arrange 8 hours of workshops with some of the finest teachers of Tango in the world. On our recent trip, they were: Carlos Rivarola, Aurora Lubiz, Genoveva Fernandez & Andres "Tanguito" Cejas and Pablo Nievas & Valeria Zunino. Teachers will be confirmed as soon as possible.

Carlos Rivarola

Maria and Carlos Rivarola are amongst the most prestigious dance couples in the world. Many professional teachers have studied with Carlos Rivarola and it goes without saying that Carlos is one of the most respected and well known Dancers/Teachers in Buenos Aires and the rest of the world.

One of the stars of the movie ‘Tango’, Carlos Rivarola is an outstanding Tango dance master and choreographer, and a household name in the highly demanding milieu of Tango aficionados in Argentina. He danced, acted and choreographed the films, “Tango Bar”, “Naked Tango” and also “Tango” directed by Carlos Saura. For his work in “Tango” he earned an American Choreography Award in 1999, given by the United Sates Academy of Dance on Film.

in 1983, together with his wife, Maria, they joined the cast of the legendary show Tango Argentino, making their debut at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris and later touring France, Italy and Canada. They made their New York debut in 1985. This show was the very first Argentine Tango show to tour this important International circuit and thanks to its unparalleled success, the new era of tango dance began all over the world, becoming what it is today

Aurora Lubiz

Aurora is a teacher, dancer and choreographer. She has taught tango since 1983 and has been through other dances such as jazz, flamenco and also theatre.

Genoveva Fernandez & Andres "Tanguito" Cejas

Andres and Genoveva represent the purest
form of Tango de Salon and are widely thought of as leading exponents of the Villa Urquiza style.

Andres had already been working as a professional dancer for many years when he befriended the famous milonguero, Pepito Avellaneda, whom he acknowledges as his first Tango maestro. Later in his career Andres worked with Osvaldo Zotto (Zotto senior), another expert in Villa Urquiza. He has been dancing with Genoveva for over 15 years and together they have travelled, performed and taught all over the world. They have worked with well-known orchestras such as Sexteto Mayor and danced with many of the leading figures in Tango; amongst them Miguel Angel Zotto (Zotto junior), Osvaldo Zotto & Lorena Ermocida, Roberto Herrera & Vanina Bilous and Los Dinzel.

Their thorough knowledge of the authentic Tango, years of performing in prestigious dinner Tango Shows in Buenos Aires coupled with their experience of teaching throughout the world has made them very accomplished and professional teachers.

Pablo Nievas & Valeria Zunino

Pablo and Valeria are widely renowned as excellent teachers and their clear and precise way of teaching and explaining has made them known all over the world. A true educational calling has led them to develop extraordinary teaching skills with an emphasis placed on communicating ideas and concepts with clarity. This achievement places them squarely among the best Argentine tango teachers.

Pablo and Valeria, who are universally renowned for their dynamic enthusiasm and exceptionally clear analysis of technical detail, teach in Buenos Aires,- the birthplace of Argentine tango-, as well as in the numerous countries world-wide, to which they are invited on a regular basis.

Their flawless tried-and-tested techniques, known collectively as "Commonsense Applied to Body Biomechanics" assure students of a rapid-learning process which is adaptable to all levels.

With contemporary innovative vision and superb technical proficiency, Pablo and Valeria's integrated and effective approach aims not only to support the evolution of Argentine tango but also to contribute to the improvement of the quality of the dancer's personal life.
